South American Tropical Rainforest & Aviary:
San Francisco Zoological Society

In 2008-Nancy Davis was delighted to be invited to take part in the planning and planting of the bromeliads and orchids for the β€œNew South American Tropical Rainforest & Aviary β€œ for the San Francisco Zoo. For over two years we gathered and grew plants in our greenhouses, waiting for the renovation & construction of the original depression-era WPA building to be completed and ready to be planted, then in 2010 our team of gardeners got to work-climbing up and down tall ladders to plant orchids and bromeliads high in the life-like cement branches -transforming the faux trees and logs into a growing forest habitat – now home to Scarlet ibis, two-toed sloth (my favorite), green anaconda and Keel-billed toucans.
